Today we have started the stages of the world word one.

World War One Timeline

1st stage-war of movement: the armies moved towards the enemy. In western front, the German attacked France thought Belgium and Luxemburg and arrived 40km close to Paris. This war technique was called Schlieffen plan. But the French and the British armies could stop the Germans at he Battle of Marne.

2nd    stage-war o attrition: in the western front the armies dug trenches from the North Sea to Switzerland and front changed little until 1918. A few meters caused a lot of death and war became a torture for soldiers.
New countries joined: Italy joined France and Great Britain and the Ottoman Empire joined Austria-Hungary and Germany .a new front opened in the Balkans. The central powers occupied Serbia and Romania. The British attacked the Ottoman Empire from Egypt and occupied Palestine. But they were defeated at Gallipoli.
The western front there were two bloody offensives in 1916: the attacked at Verdun and the British and the French reacted at the Somme. The front didn’t move ,but there were around two millions soldier dead: one million allies and 800000 Germans.
In the eastern front the Germans forced the Russians to retire back.

3th   stage-1917 crisis: this was a critical year for all the belligerents: soldiers’ mutinies in all the front, the Easter rising in Ireland and revolution in Russia. When the Bolsheviks took power in October, they signed an agreement with Germany to stop fighting.
In the ottoman empire the Arab tribes revolted against the Turks and the British got a lot of territory. Lawrance of Arabia had an important role in this uprising.
The U.S.A joined the war because the German submarines had sunk the Lusitania, a British ocean liner.

4th  stage-the end of the war: in the eastern front, the allies defeated Austria an the ottoman empire. In the western front, the arrival of USA troops was decisive. The Germans launched two offensives at the Somme and Marne. but they were stopped and started losing territory. There were revolts against the  German government .fearing a revolution, the heads of the army advised Kaiser William to seek peace. On the 11th November there was a cease-fire and an armistice was signed at Rethondes . The Kaiser exiled in the Netherlands and the republic was proclaimed in Germany.

Hi Juan, I agree with Carlos your journal is a little short.
I have found some mistakes:
-Have sung-->Have sing
- Has told-->has tell
I think that Paqui has said that some of the films she has said are based on the WW2 not in the first.
You can also add this words to the glossary:
-To dig-->Cavar
-Paths of glory-->Sendero de gloria.
Anyway, it is a good journal . See you:))
