15th of November

Today in Social Sciences Kelly has been with us.
At the beginning of the class we have corrected some exercises about:
- Purchasing Power
- Deficit
- Surplus
- Economy
- Types of Economy
- Economic Agents

Afterwards we have talked about taxes:

Those ones which the state take directly (the tax return ). And those ones that are taken indirectly: V.A.T. (Value added tax) in Spanish, I.V.A.

Later we have talked about fiscal fade. Fiscal frude means tax evasion (don´t pay taxe to the state) If people do that they can go to the jail (Julian Muñoz with his rubish bags), we have talked about “with V.A.T. or Without V.A.T” too, this is a typical sentence that autonomous and home sellers say, and if they earn less money they will pay less to the state.

Then we have talked about tax havens (the places where there aren´t taxes to people there are only taxes to banks, it´s a good place to hide from a state goverment too). It is very curious that in Spanish the Translation is wrong. “Tax haven” a safe place for money but in the spanish translation confuse to "Tax heaven" that means Paradise. It´s very interesting. Which more things will Paqui the explorer discover?

For homework we need to do four exercises:

-Page 24: Exercises 4,5,6
-Page 29: Exercise 20

Bye

Hello Ángel,

I like the mosaic you´ve prepared to summarize the lesson!

Let´s talk about what you have written:

- Review the exercises we have checked. They were about the contents of the last lesson, but there wasn´t anything about market economy.

- It would be better that you don´t write anything in Spanish. You should have to review the concepts in English: How do you say "Declaración de la renta" in English?

- How do you say "bolsa de basura" in English? "Baggage" means "equipaje". What has this to do with fiscal fraud? Can you explain it a little bit?

- Remember who has explained fiscal fraud and tax evasion and the role of tax havens. I think it would be a good idea that you explain what you have included on your mosaic to summarize the lesson.

And finally, something about the design: could you align the picture to the center? If the text comes after the picture, everything would look better.

Well done. There are some grammar mistakes. I hope your mates correct them.

Hello again, Ángel,

Remember how to write "fraude fiscal" in English. You´ve written something completely different. "To fade" means "marchitarse", "desvanecerse". This has nothing to do with defrauding the State.

Another question of vocabulary: How do we write "traducción" in English?

And finally, something about word order. You can´t write "too" or "as well" at the beginning of a sentence. You have to write it at the end. Change this, please.

I wish a was a explorer. But I´m only a teacher ;)

Last, but not least: Who has been with us today and who has explained everything about the problems related with taxes?

And what about homework? Don´t forget this!

Ángel,
Be careful with your spelling. You've made many careless errors. For example, it's "fraud" not "frade" and also "government" not "gobernment". You have to check your writing by clicking preview before publishing your comments. Be careful!

Come on, Ángel! Correct the mistakes! Some of them are hurting my eyes!
