Take action! (if you want)

As you might remember, we studied the thousand of millions of € that escape to the control of the governments every year. Different international organizations have started a campaign to end tax haven secrecy. You can send an e-mail to the G-20 leaders to ask them to take action and stop tax havens´ secrecy

but Paqui, the problem is not only tax havens, because many goverments help this employers and they give them permits in exchange of money. Until the goverment don't control the fiscal fraud that make their members, they won't be able to end tax haven secrecy.

If tax havens didn´t exist, the defrauders would have more problems to hide their money. Tax havens´secrecy is an important problem for the tax inspectors. They find a lot of difficulties to follow the money there, because the banks of these tax havens don´t collaborate. For example, the judge of the Gürtel case, a corruption scandal in Spain, suspects that the responsibles for this case have defrauded 20 million € and they have hidden them in places such as the Caiman Islands or the Bahamas. He can´t prove this due to bank secrecy. Until they don´t prove this fraud, they won´t be able to bring the money back to Spain.

All that money hidden in tax havens is money that isn´t invested in improving people´s lives. I think it is very important that tax haven banks act transparently and play the same rules as the normal banks. The only people who can change this are normal people, because the political leaders won´t do it by themselves. They need our pressure to make the right decisions.
