Wednesday, 20th of October

Today in Social Sciences when Paqui still hasn't come to the class, some classmates have prepared their works on the blackboard. The first group that has presented its work has been Europe. This group has been formed by Dani, Ana, Andrea and Bea. They have done a mural, a powerpoint with the questions and some pictures and a box like a theatre. They have explained us where is Europe located, its limits, the highest mountains and its rivers, like Danube, Alps or Apennines. They have done another mural with climates. Europe has six climates. After that we have seen beautiful pictures of Europe in the powerpoint with the song of Moulin Rouge. It has been a work very exciting at the end.

The second group has been America. This group has been formed by Dani, Laura, Ana, Javier and Bea. They have done a carboard and a power point. They have explained us that it is divided into three parts. The main forms of relief of America are Grand Canyon, Rocky mountain, Sierra Madre de Chiapas, the Cordillera Isabelia, Andes Mountains, the Atacama Desert, etc. The main bodies of water are: Amazon River Basin, Mississipi River Basin, Colorado River, Lake Superior, etc. In America there are a lot of climates. This presentation has finished with questions that they have done for us about the things that the have said about America.

The third presentation has been Asia. This group has been formed by Alejandro, Monica, Manu and Carmen. They have explained us that it is the largest continent and it has the most populates countries in the world: India and China. In Asia there is the Gobi desert. Its mountains are Himalaya Mountains, Ural Mountains, Caucaso Mountains, etc. in Asia there are a lot of plateaus. the Siberian plateau, for example. Its bodies of water are: Huang He river, Yangtze river, lake Baykal, etc. Alexander has explained us one thing of the winds of Asia.

Ángel has recorded the presentation, so Ángel please put them on the blog.

At the end of the class Paqui has given us the sheet of evaluations.

Today has been a funny class because we have learned in a different way. I like a lot doing works and to presentate them.

A lot of kisses, Yolanda Rubio.

Hello Yolanda. I see that you have paid attention to the presentations of your mates! Your explanation includes a lot of information.

I have to go now. I´ll write my comments about vocabulary and grammar later, but you have done a good work with the journal.

Hi Yolanda!
I agree with Paqui, today you have paid a lot of attention to the presentations of our classmates, and your journal is really complete! I really like it!
I have seen some grammar mistakes:
*The most highest (it should be the highest, without most)
*Power pint (there is an "o" missing)
*Lade Superior, (it's lake, not lade)
*Grou (that's group)
*Larges (it should be largest, with a final t)
*Learned OF a different way (I think, it's a mistake, maybe it would be better to write learned IN a different way)
*And you have also written "a lot of KISS", and it should be a lot of KISSES.
Very good journal! You are also PERFECT Yolanda! jajaj

I´m back. These are my correction:
- The verb "colocate" doesn´t exist in English. You can use the verb "place" or "prepare".
- Remember that the verb that corresponds to presentation is "to present". What is the past participle of this verb?
- If you say "The highest mountains", you don´t need to add "the most...", because highest means "el más alto" in Spanish.
-How do you say "emocionante" in English?

There are also some spelling mistakes. Dani has found two. What are the others? Who can answer to this question?

I have another question: What is the name of the winds Alejandro has explained? Do you remenber how these wind blow in winter and summer and what are their effects?

Have a good night.

P.S. Dani Pintado, I have met your mother, your father and your dog this evening.

Very good, Laura. You have made a lot of right corrections, just the ones I wanted you to find. Good work!

Ok... I agree with Paqui and Laura.
And... VERY GOOD journal, despite the problems you've had to make the journal, jajajaja.
Oh Meco, you are also PERFECT Yolanda! Jajajaja :)

Hello Ana,

Remember to correct your journal. There are still some mistakes in it.

Have sweet dreams!

The winds were the Monsoon winds.
I am not sure about this, but i think in winter, it blows from the sea to the continent, in summer it blows from the continent to the sea.
Am I wrong Paqui?

Laura Meco said...

One more thing...
Angel, where are the other two videos of the presentations?

Paqui Pérez Fons said...

Hello Laura. The winds are the monsoons. These winds are called periodic winds, because they blow in different directions depending on the season:
- In winter they blow from the continent to the sea ands they are cold and dry.
- In summer (from May to October) they blow from the sea to the continent, they are hot and wet, they produce a lot of precipitations and they cause floods. This is why the South and the East of Asia have huge floods every year in summer, like last summer in Pakistan.

Very good, Laura. I like the way you´re using the blog, interacting, contributing with corrections, answers and questions. I´ll try to find some more information about the monsoons and write a post about it.

Answering to your question to Ángel, the problem is that it takes a long time to upload the videos on Youtube. He will insert the other presentations when they have been completely uploaded on Youtube. It´s a matter of some hours.

See you tomorrow!

Laura Meco said...

Oh thanks for the information. Ok there is no problem about the videos, i asked him only to know it.

Paqui Pérez Fons said...

Ángel, don´t forget the commas. You have to be more careful with the punctuation marks. What would be the correct puntuation of your last comment?

Laura Meco said...

Later, wait.

Very good again, Laura. Your video is going to be the last one. I have told your sister to watch you "in action" this morning. Tomorrow we´ll do the assessment of the projects and I would like you to give your impressions about the project and the results. Have a good night!

Reading again this post I´ve found something really funny: it´s a spelling mistake, but it changes the meaning of the sentence completely. I hope Yolanda doesn´t think this about the paper I gave you for the assessment of your presentations. Can any of you tell me what´s the spelling mistake?

Laura Meco said...

Jajjajajajaj we are Yolanda and Laura!
We have found the expelling mistake and it's really funny!!
Yolanda doesn't think that about the paper of the assesments. You know, she meant sheet, but it's really funny!!! jajajaj
We are going to change it!
Have a good weekend!

Paqui Pérez Fons said...

Very good again! I was sure that you didn´t think this, but the uncouncious part of our brains betrays us sometimes and it tells what we´re really thinking ;)

I have to say that your assessment sheets (Yolanda´s and Laura´s)are very complete and you will have a good mark in the whole of the project. See you tomorrow!
