Hi everybody! This is my presentation about Neo and Post-Impressionism. Neo-Impressionism was an artistic movement which included great artists such as Seurat and Paul Signac. I have explained A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of la Grande Jatte, by Georges Seurat, but I also really like a Paul Signac's painting called Grand Canal in Venice (that's why I have included it on the cover).
Post-Impressionism was a different style, which gave more importance to feelings and the use of pure and bright colours to express emotions. The main artists of this period were Paul Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Cézanne and Van Gogh. I have explained a Van Gogh's painting called The Sower, but I have also liked a lot other of his paintings such as The Starry Night or The red vineyard.I hope you like the project! See you!

World War I: Stages of the War
Hi everybody!
Today, at the beginning of the lesson there were some people on the corridor and Paqui has told them to go into the class. Then, we have started the lesson. We have started checking exercise 4, in which we had to explain the stages of World War I. It had four stages: War of Movement, War of Attrition, 1917 Crisis and The end of the war. And we have explained the three first ones:
WAR OF MOVEMENT (1014)
In this war, everybody thought that war would be short. The armies moved towards their enemies and two fronts were created: the Western and the Eastern Front.
- In the Western Front, the Germans attacked according to the SCHLIEFFEN PLAN, but were stopped by the French at the BATTLE OF MARNE.
- In the Eastern Front, the Germans advanced quickly and defeated the Russians in the Masurian lakes and Tannenberg.
Paqui has shown us a map of the PowerPoint Presentation of the unit, where we could see how the armies moved according to the Schlieffen Plan.
By the end of 1914 all the armies had to dig trenches and the fronts stabilized.
WAR OF ATTRITION (1915-1916)
The trenches became hell for the soldiers (muddy, full of bedbugs, lice, fleas, rats) and they had to live and fight to gain some meters. New countries joined the war (Italy: the Triple Entente; Ottoman Empire: Central Powers) and a THIRD FRONT openned at the Balkans. The bloddiest battle of this war was the Battle of Verdum: there were 800,000 casualties (300,000 dead and 500,000 wounded). In the Eastern Front, the Germans forced the Russians to retire back. The British occupied Palestine from Egypt.
1917 CRISIS
In this stage, all the countries went through serious internal problems and there were soldiers' mutinies in all fronts. The British gained a lot of territories in the Arabian Peninsula with the Arabs' help (convinced by Lawrence of Arabia). (Paqui has told us there is a great song about this man). The Bolshevik Revolution in Russia had a strong impact and the Bolsheviks started negotiations to leave the war. And the U.S.A. decided to join the war due to the German attacks to their ships, which collapsed trade.
We haven't finished checking this exercise, so next day, we will explain the last stage of the war: The end of the war (1918).
The new words we have learned today are:
War of Attrition: Guerra de Desgaste
Bedbugs: chinches
Louse/lice: piojo/s
Flea: pulga
Casualty: víctima
To wound: herir
At the end of the lesson, Paqui has looked for the song about Lawrence of Arabia on YouTube, but the bell has rung and we haven't had time to listen to it. If anybody is interested on this song, you can listen to it by clicking this link:
That's all for today! Byeee :)

Back to school!

Hello everybody!
Today it has been our first class of Social Sciencies after holidays! We all know each other except a new girl in the class: Sara. We have also reminded three classmates that are not with us this year: Mónica, Daniel and Carlos. Paqui has said we might change the photo of the blog.
First Paqui has read us the Social Sciencies Assessment Criteria because it has changed in some things with respect to last year. And she has given us our books. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we take care on our books because they have been made by Paqui and Cristina, and they have dedicated a big part of the summer to do them.
Then, we have started the lesson. Paqui has explained us that we are going to continue with this blog and she has told us that every time we add images, we have to write the source below them. She has explained us another change as well. We all have to participate a minumum amount of times in this blog, and if we don't obey her our mark will be worse.
She has showed us some posts of the glog that she posted in summer. One of them was about crisis and the debt ceiling (techo de deuda). This picture explains that in the developing countries people live in a continuous crisis, so they don't notice the crisis as in the developed countries.
"Etching" and "print" which mean "grabado".
"Glue stick" which means "pegamento".
And "ring binder" which means "archivador".
At the end of the class, Paqui wanted to show us the video of "Tanto monta, monta tanto" but the bell has rung. Next day we are going to study the last unit of third of ESO: the 17th century: Absolute Monarchy and Baroque.
Oh Paqui, I have written my wrong gmail account. So please remember me to write it well in the next class because you know that I always forget about things jajaja!

A good year.

Hello everybody!
I am very sorry for the delay. I was in Alicante and I forgot that I had to write this. The first, I hope you are enjoying your summer.
It's a pitty that I couldn't participate in the video about the Catholic Monarchs because it was very educative and funny at the same time.
I have to say that, in this year, I have learnt a lot of new things and very interesting things. I agree with Yolanda, I loved the project in which we had to explain a painting. I explained The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, and it was really interesting.
All of us should say thanks to Paqui and Kelly, because they have taught us a lot of things and they have spent their time teaching us, and they haven't received good things in exchange many times.
My favourite unit was the one about economy, I loved it!
But I think that it's very important to learn about many different things, and this year we have reached that.
I think that sometimes we have spoken a lot, but we have also had many good times and we have enjoyed as well.
I am very happy because I think it has been a good year and i would like to have more years like this one with the same classmates and teachers!

Friday, 4th February

Hello everyone!
As you know, today we have done the exam of unit 3: The primary sector.
At first, when Paqui has arrived to the class, she was a bit angry, because many people of the class didn't take the books out of the table.
She has told us that people who passed the project of agriculture and stockbreeding, only had to do the last two exercises from the exam.
They were about fishing, about CAP, and there was another exercise in which we could choose between two options to do a summary.
In my opinion it was easy and short, because as Paqui says, if we study it's always easy.
When people has finished the exam, Paqui has given us a political map of Africa, and we have to give it to her on Wednesday.
That's all we have done today, I think I don't forget anything, but if I have, please tell me. Thanks! I hope that today's exam was easy for you.

Coltan
Hello everybody!
We are Yolanda Rubio and Laura Meco. We would like you to watch this presentation. It's about Coltan mineral. As you can see, this mineral is used to make a lot of elements that we use in our normal life.
It's made by the talantite and comlumbite's minerals and its color is grey.
In Congo, there was a war, and people were exploiting children. It's sad, but that is the truth.
Here you have a video in which you can see how these children were exploited.
We hope you like our video about Coltan, and we are sure about you'll like it.
Bye, bye class!
See you!
Yolanda Rubio and Laura Meco.

Last Friday´s journal
The first thing sorry, because I'm late.
I am going to write the journal of last friday because Yolanda Abad forgot to write it.
Last friday, Paqui told us that she didn't want us to study of P.E in her class.
We spoke about the economic agents.
We learnt that the economic agents are the families, the companies, and the State(this is the public sector).
We saw that companies can be classified in different categories:
Depending on their size, they can be multinational and big companies, or medium, small and microenterprises. Paqui asked me about my father's enterprise and I told her that it is medium, because it has more than 50 workers.
We also saw that another classification can be depending on the owner, and they can be public or private.
An they are also divided into companies of the primary, secondary and tertiary sector, depending on the activity they do.
Paqui told us that we had to do the exercises about purchasing power, deficit, surplus, and about the economic agents, for next day, that is, for today.
I think that's all we did! If I'm there are things left, you can remind me. Thanks!
And, I repeat again, sorry, I shouldn't have been late.

Unit 1: Physical geography of the world.

Hello!
Today, Paqui has started the class telling some people that they had to give her the maps, because some people of the class had to repeat it. Then I have asked Paqui if I could sit nearer the blackboard and she has told me that, of course, I could. Ana has also sat nearer the blackboard.
After that, Paqui has given us all the books, and she has told us, that we have to take care of it, because Cristina and she have worked hard during all the summer to create the books. We have read the index, and after, we have started unit 1: Phisical geography of the world.
Paqui has told us that all the things we have seen this morning were a review of 1º of E.S.O.We have watched a PowerPoint presentation about the forms of relief on both the continental and the oceanic crust. We have written all those forms of relief, like mountain, plateau (you can see an example of this form of relief, at the top of the comment) , massif... and the parts of the oceanic crust too.
I have asked Paqui if she could explain it slower because so many words were new for me, and it was a little bit more difficult, Ana Lucas and Juan Carlos have agreed with me, because neither they were in European Section in 1º.
We have also reviewed the bodies of water and we have written all the bodies of salt and fresh water.
We have started writing on our glossaries and, I have written many words that I didn't understand!
At the end of the class, Paqui has told us that we have to write the definitions of all the forms of relief and the bodies of water, for homework.
