I wish another year like this!!!!

Hello everybody!! I'm really sorry for the delay, but I have completely forgotten it. Yesterday I remembered and I have thought that better late than never. So, this is my last post! I'm a little exited with this, because this year has been really special and it has flown. This photo means fellowship. Because between all of us there have been fellows, I'm incuding Paqui and Kelly, and we have shown this in the video.

Well... This year, I have noticed a change, because it has been more difficult, although I have improved my marks, so I'm really happy. I have learned a lot of new things in the different subjects.

In one of the units I have learned more was in the unit of art, because when I did the explanation about my painting I enjoyed a lot, since then I love the painting of "The Garden of the Earthly delights". Apart from this I have learned a lot with all the projects we have done and I think we have worked in a nearer way interviewing people.

In the classroom, some days we spoke a lot. But I think Paqui has enjoyed with us, I hope it.

About the blog, I think it is a great way to review all we have leant in the classroom and also the new words we have known. I know this year I haven't participated a lot in it, but I promise you to participate more the next year. It is a way to approach us to the new technologies.

In this year Paqui has also worked a lot, because she has prepared a lot of PowerPoints presentations and she has invented new ways to learn and enjoy at the same time: the first project we did, about the continents, in which every group prepared it in a way and then we explained them; then, the project about the interviews. With the project about the primary sector I learnt a lot about my father's work, a lot of things I didn't know and they are very interesting things that are important to know. After that, we did the glog, in which we learnt a lot about two organizations and we also learnt how to do a glog, that is very funny. Finally, we have sung the songs and the last song with the video. I won't forget the content! With all these, we have learnt that learning and studying can be funny.

In this year, because of all these things I have liked a lot the Social Science class... and also because we have studied only a bit of History, that I dislike.

I love my classmates, I think they have done this year very pleasant. So, I WISH ANOTHER YEAR LIKE THIS!!

Wednesday, 18th of May

Today in Social Science class Ana Margarita has been with us, but she has come a little late. When Paqui has come to the class we were a little altered, because we have just finished the language exam.
At first we have checked one exercise we had to do about the introduction of the unit and about the point 2, “Humanism”. After that Silvia has read the point 3 of the unit, “Reformation and Counter-Reformation”. Paqui has written a scheme on the blackboard about the main humanists, they are: Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio, Valla, Pico della Mirandole in Itialy, Erasmus of Rotterdam in Netherlands, Thomas More in England, Michel de Montaigne in France, Antonio de Nebrija in Castile and Luis Vives in Aragon. We have copied this scheme. Paqui has explained some things of the point 3 with a power point she has showed us.

There was the Martin Luther Reformation, because there was a lot of corruption in the church. Lutheranism was a reformation with some purposes: the salvation through faith, the Bible can be read by all the people and the universal priesthood that is no intermediaries needed between God and the believers. There were pastors and there were only two sacraments. In this map we can see the espansion of the Protestants and each area. Then other protestant currents are Calvinism and Anglicanism. Calvinism believers though that when you born you have a destination and to the salvation is very important to work. Anglicanism was created because the King Henry VIII of England wanted to divorce and the Pope didn’t let him, so he created his own religion.

I think in history there are some things that are very interesting, as the creation of your own religion because you disagree with the other religion.
For the next day we have to do the crossword of unit 6.
Bye bye, have a good afternoon.

16th of March of 2011

Today in Social Science class, Ana Margarita has been with us. Paqui has worn her glasses, because her lenses were broken. Daniel Rodríguez has done the exam, because the other day he was ill and he couldn’t. First we have checked the exercises of homework. They were about what is a State, what is monarchy and what is a republic. Yolanda has checked some of them, because this term she is going to change, so she has done the homework. After that we have copied the meaning of Democracy: “demo” means people, and “cracy” means government.

Here we have a small joke about democracy:

It is the people’s rule. Then we have spoken about the elections, they have to be bi universal suffrage, free, plural and periodic. In Spain there are every four years and the European Elections are every five years. At the end of the class we have copied a small scheme about constitution. It is a supreme law of a State. It includes rights, duties and institutions and organizations of the State. Finally we have to do exercises 6,7 and 8 of page 66 for homework.

Today in the class Paqui has explained us the protestant religion, because I have asked her about if they are protestant because they protest. It was founded by Martin Luther. They have shepherds and they can get married. In USA they have a lot of different churches and religions. In this religion was common the Gospel.

We have started to sing songs in English and in Spanish about mass. After that Paqui has taught us some words in Chinese, because the other day some friends from other groups told us that Paqui speaks in Valencian with them, so she has taught us some words in Chinese: Xie Xie, thanks; Nihao, hello and zaijian, bye.

Coltan

Hello everybody!
We are Yolanda Rubio and Laura Meco. We would like you to watch this presentation. It's about Coltan mineral. As you can see, this mineral is used to make a lot of elements that we use in our normal life.
It's made by the talantite and comlumbite's minerals and its color is grey.
In Congo, there was a war, and people were exploiting children. It's sad, but that is the truth.
Here you have a video in which you can see how these children were exploited.

We hope you like our video about Coltan, and we are sure about you'll like it.
Bye, bye class!
See you!

Yolanda Rubio and Laura Meco.

Wednesday, 19th of January

Hello, classmates.

Today in Social Sciences we have checked an exercise of a diagram about the relation between the fish catches and the development of aquaculture. I have checked it but I have had it incomplete. Paqui has given an explanation to us that the capture fisheries don't increase because fish was exhausting, so the aquaculture was an alternative. In the Cantabrian Sea there were a lot of anchovies, but then there weren't because Spain and France fishing them. They had to establish a close season. Now there are very few anchovies.

Everyone has read a part of point 4: The primary sector in Spain. Ana Margarita has been with us and she has asked us some questions about this part. The majority of the questions had the answer in the climate. One of the questions has been: why there are a lot of vines and olive trees in the middle of Spain? The answer has been that because the plateau is placed there and these crops don't need a lot of water and in these zones it doesn't rain a lot.

Paqui has explained to us these things with a map.

At the end of the class Paqui has told us a little explanation and her conclusion about the projects. It has been a very good work. They have been better than the last projects, so Paqui is very happy for the majority of us.
The next day we will check 5 exercises about fishing of page 42.

Bye

The second group has been America. This group has been formed by Dani, Laura, Ana, Javier and Bea. They have done a carboard and a power point. They have explained us that it is divided into three parts.
