May, 10th 2016.

Hi, It's Maria, and today is my turn to do the journal, so let's start.

At the beginning of the class, some of us aked Paqui questions about the exam of The Age of Empires and the WW1, don't forget to study!!

Then, We started the new unit, "The Russian Revolutions". We started with Russia under de tsars, the main features were: The inmense empire, autocracy, the prohibition of political parties, the population as peasants and industries and workers in some cities.
For that Paqui have explained us the legend of Anastasia Nicolayevna.  The story of Anastasia Romanov is one of the most heart-wrenching stories ever told; it is about the horrific fate that she and her family suffered during the Bolshevik Revolution. To this day, the tragedy still resurrects doubt as to what exactly happened to the young Grand Duchess of Russia. Anastasia was the daughter of the last Russian tsar, Nicholas II. After she and her family were executed, rumors claimed that she might have survived.

Also Disney and more companies created films about this history.

Then Paqui showed us the political parties that were forbbiden:

After that we learned about the Russian revolution and the USSR, and we started with the Russian Revolution of 1905.
Russian Revolution of 1905uprising that was instrumental in convincing Tsar Nicholar II to attempt the transformation of the Russian government from an autocracy into a constitutional monarchy. For several years before 1905 and especially after the humiliating Russo-Japanese war (1904–05), diverse social groups demonstrated their discontent with the Russian social and political system. Their protests ranged from liberal rhetoric to strikes and included student riots and terrorist assassinations. These efforts, coordinated by the Union of Liberation, culminated in the massacre of peaceful demonstrators in the square before the Winter Palace, St. Petersburg, on Bloody Sunday.

In general this was all the theory of today. For homework Paqui told us to do a scheme about the revolutions, so DO IT!

  1. Very good job María! Only one thing, instead you have written about Anastasia's legend, Paqui has explained us that it was only a rumor, but it wasn't true because Anastasia's corpse was found with the rest of her family. This rumors were propagated because there were women that said they were Anastasia who had escaped from being killed.
We have also learnt about how Japanese won the Russo-Japanese war, and I think this is important, too. It was because for the Russians, it took a long time to cross the country to arrive Japan, so they sent a float, but they couldn't cross the Suez canal because it was controlled by the British. They had to went around Africa to arrive there, and, when they arrived, the Japanese had defeated the soldiers who were in the coast. I think this is some interesting information, too.

  2. Hello,

Fátima added important information to complete your journal. You should add it. I remember that we also spoke about haemophilia and Rasputin. Maybe you could add something elase.

The informtion you've added is interesting. The video is very good to understand Anastasia's legend and the definition of the 1905 Russian Revolution too, but you should add what were the consequences of this revolution and the intervention of Russia in WW1.

As for your grammar, remember that you have to use the PRESENT PERFECT to speak about things that have happened recently. These are my corrections:
