Hello everybody! I', Silvia and this is my today's journal!
Today in Social Sciences class we started talking about an exposition that Paqui has made about mauthausen and the Spanish people who were exiled there during the Second World War.
After that, we started talking about the consequences of the WW1 and the Spanish flu.
Some of theconsequences were:
-Demographic losses: more than 16.5 million dead and 21 million wounded. Around 40% of the casualties were civilans. 20 million died due to the Spanish flu.
-Economic consequences: the productive system of the belligerent was completely destroyed. All the countries had got into debts to pay for the war.
-Political consequences: Europe lost its position as the center of the world and was replaced by USA and Japan.
-Territorial consequences:
dissapearance of the big Empires of the 19th century, changes of borders, new countries appeared.
-Moral and psychological consequences: war horrors provoked social trauma, disillusionment, cynisim and distrust in the politicians.
After this we've seen that in 1919 a British economist named John Maynard warned about the economic consequences of an unfair peace.
When we finished that Paqui showed us some pictures of the consequences of the WW1 of a website that I couldn't find.
The words for the glossary were:
-Shelter: refugio.
-Warfare State: estado de bienestar.
-Disillusionment: desilusión.
-Distrust: desconfianza.
-To resort: recurrir.
