My work of paiting is about The Descend from the Cross painted by Peter Paul Rubens. It was comissionated by the Arcabuceros' confraternity the 7th of September of 1611. It was finished on 1624. Nowadays it’s located in the Cathedral of Amberes (Amberes, Belgium)
Peter was a Flemish painter, was the biggest figure of the Baroque in northern of Europe. People remember him like a big humanist, a clairvoynt idealist, a descreet man and honest that ignore the arrogant actitude of the powerful men.
The painting has a size of 420cm x 310 cm.
The technique used is oil over the canvas.
The Descend fron the Cross is the second part of a trypitch, where you also can see the Visit of the virgin and The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.
The shiny tonalities and attention to the details of the canvas are usual characteristics of the Flemish painting. The range of colour used is variate, we can see red, violet, yelow.... represent Ruben like a big colourist. The lights and sadows are inspirated in the school of Caravagio.
The painting is organized around figure of Jesus Christ and the white fabric linen that slips on his body. Christ is already dead, the calmless and the serenity impregnate the picture. Around he the are all the persons (alive) who realize the action of lower the Christ form the cross. It has a little depth spatial. The figures occupy the whole picture and its realized in a classical relief. The Virgin participate on the descending with the others figures. Juan with Nicodemo maintein the body of Christ. On the lef, José of Arimatea supports the fabric that that slips the body of Jesus. Maria Magdalena, support one foot of Jesus. In the top of the cross two men are taking down Jesus. It express liking education of Jesuit.
It belongs to the Baroque. The personal style of Rubens invades all the composition.
I include others Rubens’ paintings like:
-The adoration of the Magicitians
-The sight
-The smell
-The sacred family with Saint Ana
-The dinner in Emaús.

Hope you like my work :)
Hello, Andrea,
ReplyDeleteHere you have my corrections. You haven't folowed the scheme. because your work is mainly a description, but you don't explain the Barque features of the painting. There are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. You should read your work before posting it.
The title of your painting is The Descent from the Cross. Correct this everytime it appears, please. And "Amberes" is Antwerp in English, so change it in all the places you’ve written it.
You can't use the present as in Spanish. Present is for usual actions, not for punctual actions. You have to use the present continuous: I'm including,
attaching...

The sources of your images are not correct. You have to rewrite them correctly. When you look for them on Google Images, you have to open every picture and copiy the link, not the Google Images link. Do it properly, please. I'm tired of saying the same things thousands of times.
Your mark is 6.5. Bye.
